Max has problems that a regular teenager doesn't have. She is the leader of five children. If that weren't enough, she and the children are mutants. They are the result of experiements that crossed them with bird DNA. Having escaped from the lab where horrible tests were done on them, the kids are just trying to survive when Erasers find them and kidnap Angel the youngest bird child. Max and the others set out to rescue her and find out what is going on.
This is a fast paced book with a lot of action and twists. Max is a strong and compelling character who struggles with her own wants and the demands her fate has laid on her.
